Hacking the unhackable

When Bitcoin took off in late 2017, it was all people could talk about. So, as a financial brand, how do you join the conversation? By innovating your way into the blockchain and making the world’s first permanent ad.

We hacked the OP_Return function of the blockchain, which allowed us to embed strings of text into 68 individual Bitcoin transactions. When the transactions were put together, they revealed a larger ASCII image, where TD Ameritrade planted its flag in the Bitcoin market.
